¢Ã Coming to the University (http://www.chungbuk.ac.kr)
¡á Arrival at the airport
Most of the students coming to Korea will probably arrive at the Incheon International Airport (www.airport.or.kr). The City of Cheongju is located south of the airport, taking between 2 or 3 hours using the airport limousine bus service.
At the 2B 9A platform ground level exit of the airport, you will find buses coming to Cheongju directly (be careful not to go to the city of Chungju). Buses depart at 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:00am, and various times until 9:30pm. The fare is approximately 12,400won. For more details contact the Chungbuk Transportation Service at +82-43-259-4152.

You can also go to Kangnam Express Bus Terminal, and then take an express bus coming to Cheongju (Bus fare is approximately 5,400 won for the regular bus, and 7,000 won for the luxury bus).
After you arrive at the Cheongju Bus Terminal, get in a taxi which will take about 10 minutes and the fare will be about 2,000 won, which is relatively inexpensive.

¢Ã The City of Cheongju (http://english.cjcity.net)
The land area of Cheongju City is 153.34km2 and the city has a population of approximately 700,000. It has a T-shape where the city streets stretch out at length from the north to the south as they follow the Mushim River.

Cheongju is a vibrant city with a colorful thousand-year history behind it. The city is the origin of advanced printing culture as it was the first in the world to employ a metal printing press. In fact, Cheongju is the very place where part of the Buddhist Sutras was first printed using a movable metal type printing press. It was the first and earliest metallic printing press in the world, and it came 70 years before the printing of the Gutenberg£§s Bible.
Cheongju is an inland city in the central area of Korea located 128km southeast of Seoul. Within a radius of 40km, cities such as Daejeon, Chonan, and others lie adjacent to it. Entering the Cheongju exit via the Kyungbu Expressway at the point of 119.6km from Seoul£§s toll gate, visitors are greeted by a 5km tunnel of lush green trees standing politely row by row along the roadside, as if welcoming the visitors with a warm, heartfelt reception.
Passing through the tunnel of trees visitors enter Cheongju City, a city of education and culture. It is a city that shares a harmony between the environment and the people. Mt. Uam warmly embraces the city and the Mushim River, which flows through the heart of the city, wraps itself around the city£§s boundaries.
As the provincial capital of Chungbuk Province, it is not only the heart of administrative functions but it is also the center of politics, economy, education, and culture. Cheongju is an environmentally stable and excellent place to live.
Along with abundant water stored in Lake Daechong and inexpensive industry land, it has optimal conditions to meet the needs of high-tech industries. The number of people employed within the city is greater than 700,000. As the city is aggressively being developed, multi-subcentralization of the city is proceeding rapidly.

¡á Climates

Being in a temperate zone, Cheongju enjoys four distinct seasons, where the dry and wet seasons are clearly delineated.
The breezy springtime is blessed with blossoming flowers, while the hot and humid summers provide a fantastic atmosphere for various summer activities all around the city. Autumn is painted with a world-famous crystal clear blue sky and colorful foliage, while winter provides a beautiful snow-covered panoramic view of the mountains.
Average temperatures: Cheongju has a yearly average temperature of 11.6 degrees Celcius, with -5 degrees Celsius in winter and 28 degrees Celsius in the summer.
